Systemic Risk Management for Projects

CommWorks has long required projects to do a risk assessment as part of the project plan. Last spring we developed an inexpensive web-based tool to track project risk. Then we developed a project risk metric and some additional training to treat risk management as a factor for the entire project. Almost immediately, senior management had better visibility into the project.

This talk will cover the process, the tools, the metrics and some examples of how our risk management process is working for us.

Bob Ferguson is Manager of the SEPG group at CommWorks, an ISO 9000-2000 Company. He is a long-time attendee and participant in C-SPIN. He has been involved in or managing process improvement and metrics work in two different companies for about 7 years.
